People's poet Adam Gondvi's famous ghazal: Tumhari faailoN mein gaaon ka mausam gulabi hai...

'Adam' Gondvi was born in Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh in 1947. His real name was Ramnath Singh.

Known as people's poet, he gave a new tone to Ghazal in North India. His poetry gave a voice to the rural India, especially, the oppressed.

He passed away in 2011. He should not be confused with the legendary Urdu poet 'Adam'. Read the ghazal:

तुम्हारी फाइलों में गाँव का मौसम गुलाबी* है
मगर ये आंकड़े झूठे हैं, ये दावा किताबी है

उधर जम्हूरियत का ढोल पीटे जा रहे हैं वह
इधर परदे के पीछे बरबरियत है, नवाबी है

लगी है होड़ सी देखो, अमीरी और गरीबी में
ये गांधीवाद के ढाँचे की बुनियादी खराबी है

तुम्हारी मेज़ चांदी की, तुम्हारे जाम सोने के
यहां जुम्मन के घर में आज भी फूटी रकाबी** है

In government files, you paint a rosy picture of the village
Statistics are untrue, claims false, its all a mirage

udhar jamhooriyat ka Dhol peeTe jaa rahe haiN voh

ye Gandhi-vaad ke DhaaNche kii buniyaadi kharaabi hai

tumhaari mez chaandi ki, tumhaare jaam sone ke
