Nasir Kazmi's ghazal: Dil ke bujhne ka sabab yaad nahiiN

One of the most important Urdu poets in the post-independence era, Nasir Kazmi, had drawn the attention of poetry lovers and critics, due to his style that was different from the leftist poets of progressive writers' movement.

सफ़र-ए-मंज़िल-ए-शब याद नहीं
लोग रुख़सत हुए कब, याद नहीं

वो सितारा थी कि शबनम थी कि फूल
एक सूरत थी अजब याद नहीं

कैसी वीरां है गुज़रगाह-ए-ख़याल
जब से वह आरिज़-ओ-लब याद नहीं

ऐसा उलझा ग़म-ए-दुनिया में
एक भी ख़्वाब-ए-तरब याद नहीं

ये हक़ीक़त है कि अह्बाब को हम
याद ही कब थे जो अब याद नहीं

याद है सैर-ए-चिराग़ां नासिर
दिल के बुझने का सबब याद नहीं

vo sitaara thii ki shabnam ki phuul

ek bhii Khwaab-e-tarab yaad nahiiN

kaisii viiraaN hai guzargaah-e-Khayaal
jab se voh aariz-o-lab yaad nahiiN

yeh haqiiqat hai ki ahbaab ko ham
yaad hii kab the jo ab yaad nahiiN

yaad hai sair-e-chiraaGaaN 'Nasir'
dil ke bujhne ka sabab yaad nahiiN
